| The bustling capital- Stone Town (declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2000) with its maze of narrow streets, shops and markets is a blur of colours, sounds and spiced aromas. Famous too for its ornate carved and studded heavy wooden doors. Stone Town has much to offer the photographer, artist and culture seeker, blending as it has, many differing cultures into its present day mix. Around 100,000 people live in the capital and some days it can seem like they're all out shopping, playing in the streets or sitting under a shady tree and watching the world go by. There's something for everyone here, museums, mosques and markets, crafts, cloves and curios-arts, antiques and artifacts. Stone Town is truly a shopper's paradise and one of those few precious places in Africa where getting lost is part of the experience!
